Say it isn’t so, don’t tell me I’ve been wrong about this all along , this obscure and discriminating policy. Ever since U.S. District Court Judge Virginia A. Phillips made the ruling unconstitutional, layers have slowly been removed. Recruiters are now being told by the Pentagon to accept openly gay service members. This is a little perplexing, since you can’t ask anyone if they’re gay or not. My only question is, is this the correct time to be dealing with such a personal matter during a war? This issue is becoming more toxic by the day. We haven’t heard the last on this issue.
Update: The Obama administration asked that the 17-year-old policy stay in effect while it fully appeals the ruling by Phillips and the federal appeals court in San Francisco has ruled the military should keep the policy in place.
Our take: We agree that Obama is caught in the middle of the DADT warfare and we would not want to be him. DADT is NOT new policy but one of his campaign promises was to end it and when you promise something most people expect you to deliver. We however disagree on this; I think Obama really doesn’t want to be caught with repealing this on his record, Libergirl thinks that he really wants to repeal but with due diligence. Dream on Libergirl because it’s not likely to happen anytime soon.
