The latest salvo in America’s obsession with homosexuals is this crazy Marriage Vow from The(so-called) FAMiLY LEADER located somewhere in the corn fields of Iowa. It’s a weird amalgamation of statements, vows and footnote(lots of footnotes) that they want candidates running for president to sign. Crazy lady Michele Bachmann quickly signed on; obviously without reading it but then again she probably did, she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
It begins with this vow: Personal fidelity to one’s spouse. What, as opposed someone else’s spouse? It veers into a commitment to downsizing government and, oh yeah, rejection of Sharia Law. What does Sharia Law have to do with marriage ? More paranoia over Sharia Law from people who should know we are governed by the Constitution. Please stop the craziness, you are making my head hurt! Moving on to this obsession with gays, it also vows…
Support for the enactment of safeguards for all married and unmarried U.S. Military and National Guard personnel especially our combat troops, from inappropriate same-gender sexual harassment, adultery, or intrusively intimate commingling among attracted(restrooms, showers, barracks, tents, etc.) You all are making my head hurt again with this blatant homophobia. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell isn’t even being enforced yet and already there is a backlash. So let me get this straight, gay people just can’t control themselves around straight people; otherwise something so dumb would not need to be written much less signed off on. Washington Post blogger, Jennifer Rubin says a Republican insider and social conservative called the pledge “kooky.” He said, “I’m a very conservative person. But I would never sign a pledge with ‘etc.’ in it. I would never sign a pledge with 17 footnotes.” My sentiments exactly.
Blatent homophobia must mask latent homosexuality IMO(in my opinion). I’ll use Ted Haggard as a prime example. Old boy was out there preaching against homosexuality and wanting the Colorado State Constitution changed to reflect it all the while having a sexual relationship with a gay man. Let’s say it together….HYPOCRITE!! He fell fast and hard; booted out of the church he built in his basement. Of course God loves and forgives sinners so Pastor Ted is back and in his new church (St. James) gay, straight, black, white, Democrat and Republican are ALL welcome. Besides churches shouldn’t even be in the business of advocating any kind of legislation for or against gays though they can speak on the lifestyle from a biblical standpoint but not to the point of bashing.
I mentioned Pastor Ted to make a point about those who protest too much must have something to hide…I’m talking to you Marcus “gays are barbarians” Bachmann! Leave gay people alone and deal with your own life. Stop blaming them for the decline of marriage and the family because it doesn’t all fall on their shoulders. Gay issues including gay marriage is not going away and as this society evolves it’s inevitable that eventually same sex marriages will be allowed in all 50 states. You don’t have to agree with it or even like it but as my partner the Non-Conformist says you have allow some freedoms you don’t agree with to keep the freedoms that you do agree with.
