Well not really but it sure felt like it at Tuesday night’s Republican Presidential Debate in Las Vegas. It must be something about the boxing capitol because the symbolic gloves came off and it got ugly. Sniping, bickering and talking all over others on the panel. Perry went after Romney especially about the illegal aliens he used to clean up his lawn. Not exactly true; Mittons hired a lawn service that hired illegals(unbeknownst to him) but that didn’t stop Perry from glaring at him(and getting booed) and calling him a hypocrite on illegal immigration. In fact he glared at Perry a lot last night, it was kind of scary. I love verbal jabbing but Perry looked like he wanted to punch Romney. Never mind that when Perry first took office as governor of Texas in 2001, he went to Mexico and bragged about his law that granted “the children of undocumented workers”(aka illegal immigrants) special in-state tuition at Texas colleges, the first state in the nation to do so. And you’re critizing Romney; he should have punched you instead.

The fact that Perry is even on the stage as a candidate after having done that says a lot about the field of candidates in the Republican party(it’s pretty bad). That there is still talk of building a fence is crazy. That Herman quipped it should be an electric fence is even crazier. That all poor Michele Bachmann could say on the issue was about Obama’s two illegal relatives shows she’s tanked.

Plus illegal immigration is such a convoluted issue that it is no closer to being solved than it was when Bush II was president. At least he had the backbone to propose a plan to revamp America’s immigration laws; it was DOA with his own party. Shocking!

Neither Perry nor Romney nor Cain will fix it either because it’s up to Congress and we see how both political parties work together.

Immigration issued aside, it’s pretty clear it’s on(like Donkey Kong) between Mittons and Ricky Perry. Meanwhile the “Godfather” is surging in Florida and South Carolina where it really counts.
