Yesterday in breaking news, the President announced a prolonged stay in Afghanistan. He pronounced our presence to last till 2024. He also took the time to announce it on the day Osama Bin Laden was assassinated. I fashioned the title of this post from a John Mayer song with the lyrics ” Just wanna be liked, Just wanna be funny, Looks like the joke’s on me, So call me “Captain Backfire.” Obama wants to liked by sucking up to both sides. The “Right” said he was weak on foreign policy, so he selects the foreign policy expert, Joe Biden, to be his running mate. The joke, however, may be on Captain Backfire. 2008 wasn’t that long ago during which he fashioned himself NOT a war president. As time continues to fly, he’s ever becoming the war Prez. Is this because the United States loaned its support to Afghanistan and helped them to win over Russia and then abandoned them? Is he making up for lost time to insure this will never happen again. I’m pissed(!!!)because hasn’t war fatigue already rendered us atrophic? The money being wasted is at $2 billion a day and we’ve exhausted at least a trillion dollars thus far. It’s time for America to look in the mirror and admit it is an imperialist country. America is making other countries dependent upon it so we can infer our rule. This isn’t new for the Americas and as an aside issue, stop conferring with John(the loser) McCain about his opinion on the issue. He ran on the platform of bigger Government and the war initiative. This idiot is not a war hero, he’s more akin to being a terrible soldier; simply check his record. I’m on the side of the soldiers who have constantly been away from their families, the one’s who’s lives are being threatened daily. This President has been maligned for the color of his skin, I understand his plight, but STOP sucking up to the others. When they speak of Reagan love, don’t profess your love for the bad actor acting like a President. All people have to do is look at Reagan’s record, Reaganomics didn’t work and trickle down economics was a complete failure. Just so you won’t think I’m one-sided, Bill Clinton was a horrible president as well, especially the policies he put forward that hurt people of color.
I’m officially taking my vote away from Obama. You can’t run on platforms to get elected, then go on television and become the cool President, all the while undermining the people who voted you in. Sell it to someone else! I’m through listening; become a man of conviction. You have single handily proven why we are IMPERIALISTS.
The NON-Conformist
You are officially taking your vote away from Obama? Really? You mean he once had it? So you actually believed the lies he was spewing amongst all of the statements about all the unconstitutional things he wanted to do right along side them? I can’t condemn you for falling into an Orwellian mind controlled state. Obama is a master of lies and deception.
I also don’t understand your use of the word “we” perhaps you are an imperialist if you once voted for Obama. But that is the trick. Make you think you’re “in the club”. Obama isn’t even an imperialist, he just thinks he is. Power corrupts… Absolute power corrupts absolutely
It’s laughable to say I’ve fallen for the failed State(policies) or hegemony(leader State). We vote for the precipice of HOPE. Are you one of those that sit on the sidelines and critique? The candidate I would like to see win will never see the light of day; Ralph Nader. Because we vote for a candidate doesn’t mean we believe everything they represent. Is Obama, Bush like, an imperialist; they both make strong cases for it. Don’t assume because a person uses we as a collective that we are somehow involved, semantics aside; I haven’t passed any laws to invade other Countries. Yet, those other Countries look at US, not the administration. I respect your fore site, continue to chime in.
Really? Ralph Nader? Mr. we need more federal regulations? Ralph Nader probably means well, but he’s definitely not president material… unless he’s running for president of a day-care or old folks home.
Who do you suggest, and don’t say Ron Paul?
The very meaning of the word “suggestion” and the fact that even though I wasn’t suggesting anything, leads me to believe that either a) you get ron paul’s message and realize that my rhetoric is a direct reflection of his message
b) you’re actually a ron paul supporter yourself, and are dropping the Nader-bomb to be silly (I, too used to think RN was the man, then I realized how misguided he actually is, when it comes to administrating policy)
ron paul ron paul ron paul ron paul
Military-Industrial Complex…we have 900+ bases across the world. the game won’t end until we end or evolve.
Ron Paul makes good speeches, while I agree with a lot of what he says, he’s still idealistic and not realistic. He not a good messenger for freedom. America is already ready made, and what’s in play will be in play for a very long time. Sure Nader can turn a kernel in into a corn field, but he makes sense for using what we have to work with. Change is only going to come in small increments and small groups, not from a mass movement. Until we get rid of the two headed beast, nothing will change. Democracy is about money. Usually the one with the most wins!
