Friday marked the one-year anniversary of a terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 14 people and wounded nearly two dozen others at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.

Shortly before 11 a.m., survivors, loved ones and colleagues gathered in front of Building 3, the site of the attack, for a moment of healing and reflection.

“One year after the devastating and tragic terrorist attack in San Bernardino, we remember those who lost their lives and the loved ones they left behind,” Attorney General Kamala D. Harris said in a written statement. “We extend our support to those who were wounded and are working every day to rebuild their lives.”

Sheriff to Oregon protest holdouts: ‘There doesn’t have to be bloodshed’

Federal and state authorities said Wednesday the shooting death of one protester and arrest of 8 others who had occupied a federal wildlife refuge came after futile efforts to end the standoff peacefully for 25 days.

“Instead, they have chosen to threaten and intimidate the America they profess to love and through their criminal actions bring these consequences upon themselves,” said Greg Bretzing, FBI special agent in charge.

In a particularly emotional statement before reporters, Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward spoke directly to the remaining half-dozen holdouts at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Ore., which has been occupied since Jan. 2.

Republican women’s group apologizes for posting photo of a lynched black man hanging from a tree

The Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women apologized on Wednesday after they posted an image of a black man being lynched on their official Facebook page. The image included a solitary African American man hanging by a noose from a tree, with the text “The KKK was formed by the Democrats to keep control over black Americans. The Democrats of today just traded ropes for welfare” accompanying the image.

After KFOR, a local news station, contacted the organization’s president, Pam Pollard, about the image, Pollard deleted the post. She later released a statement saying that she “did not make the post or approve the post and when it was brought to my attention I immediately deleted it.”

On Sunday morning May 31, 2009, Dr. George Tiller was assassinated while serving as a church usher. Scott Roeder, who had previously stalked him to learn his day-to-day routine, shot him point-blank for a single reason: Dr. Tiller was an abortion provider. As we commemorated the six-year anniversary of this horrific incident of domestic terrorism on Sunday, it is important to understand how Dr. Tiller’s death continues to haunt the lives of abortion providers—and inspire the extremists who still target them.

America’s Domestic Terrorists?

Image: The Final Call

The primary threat to law enforcement officers in America, is not coming from where you may think, say analysts.  Angry White males at home are a far greater threat than foreigners abroad, they warn.

There is a very real threat to law enforcement officers in America, however, the primary threat is not coming from ISIS, Al-Qaeda or any radicalized Muslims in the United States as the controlled media would have you believe.

A direct threat has emerged from within the sovereign citizens movement, an ideologically committed group of people with documented views against the U.S. government, who advocate violent overthrow of existing government structures, laws and call for citizen arrests of high-ranking political officials. It is also referred to in some circles as the “Patriot” movement.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, sovereign citizens are anti-government extremists who subscribe to a wide range of beliefs. A central theme, however, is that although they physically reside in this country, they are separate or “sovereign” from the United States. They don’t believe they have to answer to any government authority, including courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments, or law enforcement.

In 2009, the United States Department of Homeland Security under the direction of then Secretary Janet Napolitano released a report titled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”

“Dr. King ended the terror of living in the south.”

I was having this argument with my father about Martin Luther King and how his message was too conservative compared to Malcolm X’s message. My father got really angry at me. It wasn’t that he disliked Malcolm X, but his point was that Malcolm X hadn’t accomplished anything as Dr. King had.

I was kind of sarcastic and asked something like, so what did Martin Luther King accomplish other than giving his “I have a dream speech.”

Before I tell you what my father told me, I want to digress. Because at this point in our amnesiac national existence, my question pretty much reflects the national civic religion view of what Dr. King accomplished. He gave this great speech. Or some people say, “he marched.” I was so angry at Mrs. Clinton during the primaries when she said that Dr. King marched, but it was LBJ who delivered the Civil Rights Act.

At this point, I would like to remind everyone exactly what Martin Luther King did, and it wasn’t that he “marched” or gave a great speech.

My father told me with a sort of cold fury, “Dr. King ended the terror of living in the south.”

Elvis impersonator charged with threatening Obama in ricin case; family urged mental help

The man alleged to have sent a letter to President Obama that tested positive for the poison ricin has been charged with threatening President Obama. The Justice Department announced the charges against Paul Kevin Curtis, 45, on Thursday.

Curtis, who has worked as an Elvis impersonator, was arrested on Wednesday as a suspect in the mailing of the suspicious letters to the president and U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, a Republican from Mississippi.

Wicker told reporters Thursday that he had once hired Curtis to perform as the hip-swiveling King of rock and roll at a party.

“I have indeed met him,” Wicker said. “He was very entertaining.”

“He was more stable then,” Wicker added.

An FBI bulletin obtained by NBC News on Wednesday indicated that both letters contained identical closing statements.

The letters, which were postmarked April 8, 2013, out of Memphis, Tenn., ended with the phrase, “to see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance.” The letters were also signed the same: “I am KC and I approve this message.”
