Fresh off your summer picnic comes news that the paper plates, cups and napkins you may have used have ties to the Tea Party. This gives new meaning to that old adage “all politics is local.” And you thought the summer of strange was over. Your paper plates funding the Tea Party, how could this be? Well, Koch Industries owns Georgia Pacific, Brawny paper towels and Dixie cups as well as operating oil refineries in Alaska, Texas, and Minnesota. The Koch brothers(Charles and David) are super-rich( a combined worth of thirty-five billion dollars) and according to Jane Mayer’s story in The New Yorker they gave the money that founded the tea party and continue to foot many of its bills.
