The President is hard at work traveling about speaking at different universities trying to get out the message to vote. Recently he made a stop at Bowie State University in Maryland targeting young black voters.

In the latest approval poll rating by Newsweek the President is polling high at 54%, similar to Reagan in 1982 at 42% and Clinton in 1994 at 45%.

The President is courting the young black vote. The latest Pew Research Poll shows 53% of voters 30 and older are giving a lot of thought to this election. Among blacks he polled at 91%, 36% among whites and 55% among Hispanics.

You may be wondering why he’s targeting the black youth; it’s simple they spear-headed his Presidential campaign by coming out in large numbers to vote. He’s counting, again, on their youthful exuberance to help with the midterm elections. The GOP is counting on the lethargic nature of voters during midterms. Generally midterms aren’t as sexy as the presidential election. Numbers for liberals are slowly rising in major races with tea party candidates.

I write this because I’m trying to reach the black electorate whom many consider inept to vote. Many on the “Right” say we only voted for the President simply for his skin color.

To further the point, Tom Tancredo said before the first National Tea Party convention that he wanted a literacy test before people are allowed to vote.  A second story involves Chairman of the Virginia Beach Republican Party sent around an e-mail earlier this year as a joke depicting a black dog that should be eligible for welfare.   The dog is also unemployed, lazy, and can’t speak English and lastly, has no friggin clue who is daddy is.

Our votes and voices can and should not be taken for granted. We must take and make stands. The Republican Party has proven they’re weak by high-jacking a fringe movement with the help of the Fox News Network. The Democratic Party has to prove they have the interest of the people who put them in a position of power. I believe in competition, we need a more viable third party, the tea party isn’t it. I’m looking for the implosion of this misguided movement, it is coming. Look at how they voted out Republican incumbents.

I like how Obama  is courting the young black vote, they’re the most politically engaged, more likely to show up to rallies, volunteer, and contribute money.

We must wake up, our country is about to be high-jacked by people with theories instead of ideas. They either want to privatize everything or get rid of it, e.g., the Federal Government. These theories are fine when talking with your friends but practical application of these theories would prove disastrous.
