I’d been hearing over the weekend about the cops at the University of California, Davis that pepper sprayed the students and didn’t really want to see the video because I knew it would make me MAD. I was right…it made me MAD. It’s really hard to watch them showering those kids(literally) with pepper spray. It would have been different had there been an actual riot but these students were on the ground, arms linked, in the most vulnerable position. The cops showed no mercy and epitomized how some people feel about cops not always serving and protecting. What the hell is going on in this country when folks can’t protest peacefully? It’s supposed to be one of the things that set us apart from other countries.

For the most part the Occupy Wall Street Movement has been peaceful but some conservatives have painted it as a hippie infested, Ipad using, having sex in tents, violent movement and little else.  Of course it’s more than that in spite of it not having a clear leader or message. But that’s okay too because it’s all about creating a climate for change and that usually starts from the bottom up. Those cops were supposed to protect those students and they didn’t. If you weren’t offended (read: mad and pissed off)by this and think they deserved it, you need to wake up; tomorrow it could be you!
