You probably know him as John Edwards, former North Carolina Senator, former vice-presidential candidate, former presidential candidate AND former person of importance but those days are long gone. These days he’s hanging out at the federal courthouse in Greensboro, North Carolina charged with violating multiple federal campaign contribution laws to cover up an extramarital affair. I’m remembering those heady days when I thought the son of a mill worker from South Carolina would be the leader of the free world so what the hell happened to him? He had the charm, the brains, the good looks and that whole southern thing going for him. As you know lots of presidents have been men from the south which made Johnny Reid almost perfect emphasis on ALMOST because it turns out he was a vain liar. It also has to be said that he was selfish because he knew his life was falling apart and he would be exposed and had he been the Democratic nominee it would have been a disaster for the party and old man John McCain would have probably been elected.

The fall of Edwards is shocking to me because he seemed to have it all and I wonder how he allowed Rielle Hunter aka Lisa Drucker into the fold and got all high school crushy with her to the point of carrying on with her and getting her pregnant. OMG! What Edwards did after that was cover his ass and in the process lie, convince his late wife Elizabeth Edwards to lie, convince his good friend and his wife to lie and when that wasn’t enough and the Enquirer broke the story that he was a baby daddy, he LIED again denying that he was the daddy. He’s damaged his baby daughter before she ever spoke a word and all for political aspirations but mostly because he was narcissistic and self-centered.

The trial, only a week old, is already juicy and promises to expose Edwards even more. Ultimately Edwards betrayed almost everyone that ever cared for him including his wife, kids and close friend Andrew Young. His head was so swollen that he would make Young and his wife leave their own home so he could have alone time with Rielle and new age lady(Rielle) treated the Youngs like servants waiting on her every whim. Meanwhile Elizabeth who had her own issues long before she became seriously ill was breathing down all of their necks terrorizing them and can you really blame her?

It’s a sad state of affairs for the golden boy but much of it is his own doing, it seems he was given too much national prestige too soon.
