I would first like to wish the people of the Aurora, Colorado massacre a peaceful recovery. What took place was unthinkable and completely unheard off, it was something right out of a fictitious movie. Before we get to the pointing of fingers, is this anything new; not the actual shooting but people copycatting scenarios from movies. Remember the movie Money Train starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, A vengeful New York transit cop decides to steal a trainload of subway fares; his foster-brother, a fellow cop, tries to protect him, blah blah, never did see it. However I do remember the back blow from the movie like this article from the L.A. Times.

Americans have a short-term memory, what they want to do is be reactionary to foster new gun control laws. Libergirl and I got into a heated debate about this same issue. My question is what is next? You can’t stop people from getting guns the illegal or legal way. Guns are continually being taken off the streets by law enforcement, could it be more; sure. James Holmes, the young man who committed this act of terrorism, got his guns the legal way. Should he have been able to purchase so many, that may be debatable. It doesn’t seem as if he was a gun collector for which you must have a license. Are we always going to respond to an issue as soon as one occurs or are we going to be more proactive?

Politicians are full of crap, especially the conservatives, they are bought and sold by the National Rifle Association so what are they really going to say or do. In life things happen and will continue to happen; it’s unfortunate but true. You can’t blame Hollywood for what some 24-year-old is going to do. Movies are what they are: entertainment. The movie that chilled me was Acts of Valor, it was scary but more realistic than some idiot acting like a fictional character. Are we now going to have metal detectors at the front of movie theater? By the way he entered in through the exit doors.

NO, this was not some liberal plot! It is what it is; a person who was unable to deal with his frustrations had to terrorize innocent people by recreating a fictional character who is very flawed in logic and deed. I have to mention the friend angle, someone may have known but was scared of nothing being done. It’s one thing to search a person or profile them but when nothing is found and something happens they then search for the person who may have heard something. That in itself is dangerous and problematic. This incident puts us at a crossroads with many questions and even less solutions and to deal with a real conspiracy if there is one. This terrorist, which is what we should be referring to him as, may think he’s so much like his deranged character that he may be awaiting the trail to try to win his defense to get out and commit more crimes. We do know this, it is a therapists’ wet dream, this guy is a danger to society at large and to himself.
