As Washington, D.C., began to return to normal Tuesday morning, the names of some of the victims of a shooting in the city’s Navy Yard that left 13 people dead, including the gunman, were released.

Officials late Monday named seven of those killed in the rampage, none of whom were active military, as they worked to notify the families of the remaining victims.

Those seven killed were identified as Michael Arnold, 59; Sylvia Frasier, 53; Kathy Gaarde, 62; John Roger Johnson, 73; Frank Kohler, 50; Kenneth Bernard Proctor, 46; and Vishnu Pandit, 61, according to The Associated Press. The Washington Post confirmed an eighth victim as 51-year-old Arthur Daniels with his family members.

Monday morning, a lone gunman opened fire inside Washington’s Navy Yard, killing 12 people and injuring several others, including a city police officer and a base officer.
