LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —Transportation Security Administration officers at airports across the country Friday took a moment of silence in memory of a security agent who was fatally shot at Los Angeles International Airport.

The moment of silence honoring 39-year-old Gerardo Hernandez, who was killed during the shooting rampage in Terminal 3 at LAX one week ago, began at 9:20 a.m.

Hernandez was working at a lower-level passenger check-in station when a gunman, who is suspected to be 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, pulled a semi-automatic weapon out of a duffel bag and began shooting. Federal officials say the suspect was targeting TSA agents.
