Those who Boycott Facebook, Should Also Boycott The Democratic Party

In the spirit of Harriet Tubman, we need to free Black America from the grip of the imperial Democratic Party plantation.
“Both parties have also been equal opportunity imperialists.”
In light of the NAACP’s one-week boycott of Facebook , based on recent allegations that so-called “Russian Trolls” may have targeted African-American voters as a means to “influence” the so-called outcome of recent elections, it is my hope that the NAACP would also call for an even more righteous boycott of the Democratic Party. After all, the Democratic Party has an even longer track record of manipulating African-American voters to solely vote for candidates from their fraudulent political organization, no matter how many times they lie to the Black Community.
The white liberals that run the Democratic Party plantation have never had any real concern for ensuring that the Black Community receives justice for the over 400 years of oppression that has been doled out to the Black Community. The Democratic Party is as ruthless and duplicitous as the Republican Party. This may be a painful, yet important, dose of truth serum for many people to psychologically imbibe. However, it is necessary if the Black Community is to take an important, giant, step towards political (and social) liberation from the United States’ two-party dictatorship. Both the Democrats and Republicans have ushered in racist and draconian policies that were aimed at hyper-policing communities of color, imprisoning millions of black and brown bodies in the nefarious US prison system, gentrifying (ethnically cleansing) communities of color, and both parties have also been equal opportunity imperialists—-murdering millions of innocent people abroad by way of war and indiscriminate missiles and bombs. Yes, both political parties have done this! Yes, both!
“The Democratic Party has a long record of manipulating African-American voters.”
In 2008, the Democratic Party’s brilliant move to put forth a brown face — Barack Obama — further confused masses of African-Americans to believe that this political party was significantly different, or even “progressive” (whatever that means in 2018). However, the racist and regressive policies continued under Barack Obama, and in some cases even more so. The brown-faced Democrat (Obama) expanded the theater of war (including bombing the African continent) and deported more immigrants than any president in the United States history. Obama bombed all of the predominately Muslim countries that Trump banned, Obama greatly enlarged the federal system of detention centers for undocumented persons, and went after more whistleblowers than any president in US history.
“A mass exodus of black people from the Democratic Party plantation is long overdue.”
If the aforementioned facts do not convince you that there is little significant difference between the Democrats and Republicans, perhaps nothing will. After all, had a white Republican done those same things, many white liberals and misguided African-Americans would be rightfully indignant. We know this to be true because they are always indignant when a Republican does those evil things. However, they endorse it when a Democrat carries out the same crimes against humanity. A mass exodus of black people from the Democratic Party plantation is long overdue. Our political libration depends on it. Those of us in the “know” need to be modern-day Harriet Tubmans and help as many escape, who are willing to escape, by exposing them to cold, hard facts.
It is said that Harriet Tubman once said, “I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more, if only they knew they were slaves.” If she were alive today, perhaps she would be saying, I freed thousands of African Americans from the Democratic Party Plantation, I could have freed many more if only they knew that they were socially and politically rotting on a political plantation.”

Threat to free speech

There is a Senate bill, along with a companion bill in the House, working its way through Congress with strong bipartisan support, that poses a significant danger to free speech. One would think this bill would be a big deal but, surprisingly, the bill has not received much coverage in the mainstream media.

Fortunately the American Civil Liberties Union is alert to efforts undermining free speech. Thus, in a July 20th article on the ACLU website about S. 720/H.R. 1697, the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, Bryan Hauss, Staff Attorney, wrote:

The bill would amend existing law to prohibit people in the United States from supporting boycotts targeting Israel — making it a felony to choose not to engage in commerce with companies doing business in Israel and its settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. Violations would be punishable by a civil penalty that could reach $250,000 and a maximum criminal penalty of $1 million and 20 years in prison.

Hauss continues:

The bill is aimed at advocates of boycotts targeting Israel, most notably the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement — a global campaign that seeks to apply economic and political pressure on Israel to comply with international law. Specifically, the bill sponsors intend the act as a response to the U.N. Human Rights Council’s 2016 resolution calling on companies to respect human rights, including in occupied Palestinian territories. No matter what you think about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one thing is clear: The First Amendment protects the right to engage in political boycotts.

Amazingly, supporters of this bill seem to have a problem with calling on companies to respect human rights! Who would draft such a problematic bill that stifles free speech and nonviolent political action?

The website carried a July 19th article by Glenn Greenwald and Ryan Grim that said:

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports that the bill “was drafted with the assistance of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.” Indeed, AIPAC, in its 2017 lobbying agenda, identified passage of this bill as one of its top lobbying priorities for the year.

This AIPAC-influenced bill is consistent with AIPAC’s long-term pattern of advocating for the interests of a foreign nation, Israel. AIPAC is one of the most powerful lobbies in Washington, D.C. and many members of Congress seem to automatically toe its line. Thus it is not surprising that 46 senators and 245 representatives have already signed on to the bill originally introduced on March 23rd.

Greenwald and Grim added that cosponsors include liberal Senators Ron Wyden, Richard Blumenthal, Maria Cantwell as well as conservative Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Ben Sasse. In the House, cosponsors include conservatives such as Jason Chaffetz, Liz Cheney, and Peter King as well as liberals Ted Lieu, Adam Schiff, and Eric Swalwell. Greenwald and Grim noted that these latter three members, who have built a wide public following by posturing as opponents of authoritarianism, are cosponsoring one of the most oppressive and authoritarian bills that has pended before Congress in quite some time.

Many of the cosponsors claim they were unaware of the penalties that could be applied in the bill whereas a few others state that they have a different reading of the bill, particularly related to the criminal penalties.

In addition to using AIPAC and other groups to lobby Congress, Israel previously directly inserted itself into our legislative process. For example, in 2015 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blatantly campaigned to derail the nuclear agreement with Iran. Also of concern, many U.S. and Israeli political experts thought Netanyahu clearly tried to sway the outcome in the 2012 U.S. Presidential election in favor of the Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

We must protect our free speech by opposing this highly questionable bill designed to benefit a foreign nation. In Colorado this means questioning Senator Bennet and Representatives Lamborn, Coffman and Buck, about their support for this appalling bill. We can also thank the other members of the Colorado delegation for not cosponsoring this terrible affront to free speech and the Constitution.

To Boycott or Not to Boycott

A buddy of mine sent me a text about boycotting Black Friday from Nov 24 thru Jan 2….Before I begin my righteous rant I’m not even going to go into the history of Black Friday. If you don’t know the origin of the story by now, you shouldn’t be in the argument or the vicinity thereof. To brief yourself on the subject read Sarah Pruitt’s article What’s the Real History of Black Friday.

I’ve heard every argument for Black Friday and I call bullshit!. Look at it this way, why boycott if you’re pinching pennies to buy your children a gift they really want and you can get that same gift at a fraction of the cost(sorry that makes good financial sense). Doesn’t matter if you purchase your gifts a week before, the retailers are still getting your dollars anyway. Might as well save some coin! The other question, would I boycott…Hell yes! Problem is we’re not ready. We argue for freedom, justice, equality and self- determination. When Kaepernick took a knee we argued about the oppression of the flag and the racist history of the flag and how the United States Constitution wasn’t for you, we weren’t even considered a person. Yet we want to partake in European holiday that had nothing to do with enslaved Africans. Read the “Slave Narratives” how black were treated or mistreated. Some were plotting their escape while others enjoyed the time off in drunkenness. We fight tooth and nail to be a part of “Misgivings Day.”

If we want to get serious about boycotting we have to completely get out of the business of celebrating European holidays. I understand we live in a ready made world but can we not make our personal stamp and create our own belief systems. Think for a second, didn’t we have a truth, a practice or belief system before we were exported here and made to forget that rich history. Read the works of Cheikh Anta Diop, Robin Walker, Ivan Van Sertima,Yosef Alfredo Antonio Ben-Jochannan. Our history is presented to us as slavery to the Civil Rights Movement.

The question remains, what do you want? If you want to boycott from Nov 24 to Jan 2, we can’t partake in “Misgivings Day” by spending it on traditional fare such as turkeys which alone bring in roughly $670 million. If we want self- determination we have to come out from  under the thumb of tradition and be a separate people in order to be taken seriously.

I receive funny looks when I tell people I don’t partake in American holidays especially from white people. It didn’t start out this way but  I’m happier for it. The argument continues to be an economic boycott for justice. We are not a unified group so a massive boycott is not in our best interest. We have to focus on one company. Let’s take Coke for instance, the group that created fat white Santa, Funny, yet true.

Coke doesn’t really spend money with black businesses so lets buy stock and become major stake holders (companies are beholden to share holders). This is called a power play: your money is your voice. We didn’t created the rules but we must play by them at times. We also must fight injustice by voting for those who have a divested interest. We have to chose people we want and back them financially, we also can’t be scared to chose people who look like us. We have to be completely divested and not partake in European holidays, until then I can’t take your boycott seriously. So much more can be added, this was just a primer!

Netanyahu: Speech Not Intended to Disrespect Obama

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed “regret” Monday that his address to a joint session of Congress has become politicized, but pledged to continue to criticize the emerging Iran nuclear agreement.

Addressing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in Washington, Netanyahu was greeted by the friendly audience with multiple standing ovations, saying he appreciates all that President Obama has done in support of his country.

“My speech is not intended to show any disrespect to President Obama or the esteemed office which he holds,” he said. Republicans invited Netanyahu to address Congress Tuesday without first consulting the White House in an breach of diplomatic protocol. The White House responded by refusing to meet with the Israeli leader, citing proximity to this month’s Israeli elections.

Netanyahu appeared to acknowledge that his address has become a distraction from the very talks he aims to criticize.

“You know never has so much been written about a speech that hasn’t been given,” he quipped. Even attendance at the Tuesday speech has become controversial, with a number of Democratic lawmakers pledging to boycott.

Black Jesus: We Have Other Things to Boycott

I had been hearing rumblings for a couple weeks, but Thursday morning I awoke to a full-throttle meltdown among some members of the community with which I most closely identify, that is, Black Christians. Thursday night the new series by Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder premiered on AdultSwim, the Cartoon Network evening lineup of adult-themed cartoon comedy. It’s called Black Jesus, and in the trailer the title character is depicted as a neighborhood brother dressed in church-play biblical garb with no place to lay his head and apparently getting little to no respect despite the fact that he is, as he himself notes, “your Lord and Savior.” It has the potential to be very funny, that is, if you don’t see it as blasphemous.

Let me admit that the name Black Jesus immediately causes me to chuckle because it evokes the memory of an iconic episode of the controversial 1970s…

70 percent of California doctors plan to boycott Obamacare exchanges

About 70 percent of California’s 104,000 doctors are reportedly planning to stay out of the state’s health insurance exchange, a move that could have significant impact on implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

As states across the country work to enroll Americans in the ACA, one question that remains is exactly what kind of doctor access patients will have when their coverage kicks in. According to the president of the California Medical Association, Dr. Richard Thorp, residents there could find limited options at the start of the new year.

Thorp told the Washington Examiner the primary reason that seven-out-of-10 California doctors are boycotting the Obamacare exchange is due to the state’s low Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rates, which typically land 30 percent below those in other parts of the country.

For example, Medicare typically pays doctors $76 for return-office visits, but in California doctors only receive $24. A tonsillectomy, meanwhile, pays out between $500 and $700, whereas doctors in California receive $160 for the procedure.

“We need some recognition that we’re doing a service to the community,” Thorp said. “But we can’t do it for free. And we can’t do it at a loss. No other business would do that.”
