Hold on now, I’m not speaking of all southern women voters( of which I am one) but I am speaking of those who pulled the lever Tuesday for Rick Santorum. Yes, you women in Mississippi and Alabama. An exit poll of Alabama Republicans shows that working women went for Santorum by about 49 percent. Now why would yall do that? Forget the fact that Rick really would prefer you not go out into the workforce but he would also deny you some free prenatal testing, a mandatory part of Obama care because, well, it leads to more abortions. Research shows that prenatal care is good for both the patient and the doctor but when he says it helps to cull the ranks of the disabled he’s only telling one side of the story. I like how my partner the NON-Conformist framed it, he makes these general statements but never goes into the whys of the situation much like some of the statements he’s made about women.
It seems every time I write for The Confirmation Files, these days, it’s about some kind of attack on women whether it be their rights or some personal attack. MSNBC contributor and Democratic strategist Karen Finney was more than a bit dismayed by Tuesday’s election results and in fact expressed genuine hurt about those women voters in Alabama saying, “It’s a little painful because I’m wondering if those women really heard the full message that, yes, there’s the economy, but if you’ve got to worry about your basic health care, how are you then going to be able to do what you need to do in terms of having a job, paying your rent, taking care of your kids?” I get what Karen is saying in that if you don’t have your health it makes it much harder to do the other things in life.
Woman hater Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves to, what else, trash Karen saying she’s ticked off because they(Dems) are failing at selling this war on women and the opinion that Republicans equal no abortion and no birth control pills. Have you watched or read the news lately? That seems to be exactly what electing Republicans will achieve and more specifically Santorum who feels that contraception is a moral grevious wrong and abortion shouldn’t happen at any cost. Which brings me back to my original question of why these southern, working women voted for him and it comes down to morals. Rick Santorum won the Alabama primary with support from conservative voters, evangelicals, lower income voters and women. Read that again, please! Conservatism, of course, is not new to the south but the above mentioned groups will vote against their own interest economically in the name of values. I thought women were supposed to be smarter than that and look at things more holistically and say no way am I voting for this guy because he seems to have a problem with the modern woman and I am a modern woman, even if I am conservative. Wait is it possible they’ve been brainwashed into thinking that the two can’t coexist?
Gingrich, Romney and Santorum head next to Louisiana, a conservative state where I use to live and a poll has Santorum with a slight lead, Santorum ever the oily one accepted his two deep south wins from a headquarters somewhere in Lafayette, Louisiana which means he’s already there spreading his conservative message, I hope the women of Louisiana don’t give him another deep south victory.

I saw some of the women in SC saying they voted for Santorum because he’d lose against Obama. I’m okay with the vote for that reason. They’re all so desperate to prove how conservative they are. I don’t know if it’s so much about birth control as it is about abortion for women conservative voters. For these women, abortion is a moral issue. I’d vote for Santorum for the same reasons the women in SC did.
Have you noticed how Newty’s toned down? He’s been dropped by the voters like a hot rock.
one can always hope. continue…
